The Village of Homewood and the Homewood Police Department are alerting residents to an email scam in which fraudulent messages use Village branding, public information, and impersonations of Village officials to appear legitimate. These emails often request that money be sent via wire transfer. The Village of Homewood, its staff, and elected officials will never ask for wired funds or gift cards for any payments. All legitimate payments for bills, permits, or services must be made through official Village channels or in person at Village Hall.

To avoid falling victim to scam emails, always verify the sender’s email address (official messages use the @homewoodil.gov domain), be cautious of urgent or unusual requests, avoid clicking unexpected links or attachments, and never wire money for Village-related payments.
