Homewood’s charming downtown offers development sites for transit-oriented development. Located within steps of the Metra/Amtrak station, Homewood's downtown is pedestrian, bike, and transit-friendly. The newly completed Martin Avenue Square invites the community to gather for farmers' markets or one of the over 60 outdoor events held annually. Halsted Street Retail Corridor
The Halsted Street Retail Corridor is easily accessed by both residents and visitors immediately south of I-80/294. The corridor offers shopping on a larger scale, featuring nationally and regionally recognized retailers, including Home Depot, Menards, Old Navy, Kohl's, Target, Best Buy, Five Below, Potbelly, Chick-fil-A, Portillo's, Crumbl Cookie's, Burlington, Petco, Smoothie King, Chili's, Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Chipotle, Dave's Hot Chicken, and Panera Bread.
Southgate Shopping Area
The Southgate Shopping Area was recently expanded with more than 6,000 sf of additional commercial space. The Southgate shopping area recently underwent a facelift and received over $300,000 in infrastructure improvements. The Southgate Shopping area is located on Dixie Highway from 186th Place south to the Village limits. Local businesses include Maple Tree Inn, Cilantro Mexican Restaurant, Thomas Photographic, Art Corner, and Cold Stone Creamery.
Cherry Creek Shopping Center
The Cherry Creek Shopping Center includes national retailers, locally-renowned retailers, and personal service establishments. Retailers include Walgreens, Subway, Forever Yogurt, Pop's Italian Beef, and Ace Hardware. The Cherry Creek Shopping Center is located on Governors Highway south of 183rd Street.

Prairie Lakes Business Park
Prairie Lakes Business Park is part of a 172-acre natural preserve located in Homewood at 175th Street between Halsted Street and Ashland Avenue.
