The North Halsted Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District was adopted on February 25, 2025. The TIF District includes the former Walmart property and parcels to the south and west in the Village of Homewood, Illinois.

The Redevelopment Plan and Project is on file and available for public inspection at the office of the Village Clerk, Homewood Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Road, Homewood, Illinois. You can also view the final adopted plan at this link:

PROCESS:

The first meeting of the Joint Review Board was held on January 6, 2025, at 2 PM in the first floor Village Hall Board Room.

On February 11, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Homewood Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Road, Homewood, Illinois, a public hearing was held to consider the designation of the North Halsted TIF Redevelopment Plan and designation of a redevelopment project area known as the North Halsted TIF Redevelopment Project Area. Members of the public were able to participate in the public hearing in person at the Village Hall Council Chambers.

Written comments could be submitted before the hearing by emailing them to amesaros@homewoodil.gov. Please include “Public Comment for North Halsted TIF” in the subject line of the e-mail. All e-mail comments to be entered into the record received by 4:00 p.m. on February 11, 2025, were distributed to all village board members.
