The Village of Homewood invites all residents to participate in the Pace Car Program by signing a pledge to drive safely, courteously, and respectfully with other members of the roadway. Our goal is to effectively change speeding habits, one driver at a time. 

Over the last several years, speeding has increased significantly across America. In Homewood alone, speeding citations have increased nearly 50% from 2021 to 2022. Residents have spoken up and we agree a change is needed. We ask that you partner with the Village and help us maintain safe speeds on our roadways. It starts with us, a determined and aware community, to follow traffic laws, speed limits, and safe driving habits. 

We’ve heard your concerns and now it’s time to act! The Village of Homewood has developed the Pace Car Program as a community effort to calm traffic and address the issue of speeding. Let’s join forces together as neighbors, community members, and drivers alike to be a part of the solution!  

The Pace Car Program is a community engagement and awareness campaign with a goal to encourage drivers to be more aware of personal driving habits and set positive examples within our community. 

The pledge is only meant for each individual driver to be aware of and reflect on their own driving habits and does not offer additional rights to interfere with actions of other drivers or engage with their reckless driving behaviors. 

Pace Car Program participants will receive a reflective car magnet to put near their rear license plate. By signing the pledge, you are making a conscious effort as a motorist to make our streets safer by modeling responsible driving.
