The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for administering the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the Homewood Zoning Ordinance. Most applications require public hearings and the timeline for final decision varies by request. Visit the Planning and Zoning page for applications and how-to's.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the second and fourth Thursday of every month. Meetings are held at 7:00pm in the Village Hall Board Room (2020 Chestnut Road, Homewood, IL 60430).

The Planning and Zoning Commission is made up of seven volunteer members. Members are appointed to five year terms.

Join the Planning and Zoning Commission

Looking to get involved in planning your community? The Village is always receiving applications to join the Planning and Zoning Commission! Applications are received on a rolling basis and reviewed by Village staff. When a position on the Commission becomes vacant, a new appointment will be selected from the pool of applicants by the Village Board of Trustees. Applications are valid for one year.

Scam Alert!

A number of current scams are targeting residents applying for Village permits and other planning and zoning applications. These scams often involve scammers posing as members of Village commissions and boards, asking for money via phone or e-mail with suspicious links or wire transfers. Village staff will never request payment by any method except an approved and secure payment portal or an in-person transaction. Please report any suspicious requests to Village staff immediately!
