Homewood residents should be aware of new state regulations regarding pesticide applications on public rights-of-way that took effect January 1, 2025. Under Public Act 103-0976 (The Pesticide Application on Rights-of-Way Notification Act), we are implementing enhanced notification procedures to inform our community about pesticide applications.

Under the public act 103-0976, Municipalities and Government entities 24 hour notice before applying pesticides, Herbicides. Village of Homewood. Landscape Maintenance Department of DPW aims to treat noxious weeds, invasive species as well as keeping row site lines clear of obstruction and provide a clean public areas. Treatment of targeted areas may require many spot treatments, regularly site visits over the season all while working within weather restraints and available resources.

Areas to be treated: Within VOH City Limits

• Guardrails, Dead ends, Row Site lines
• CBD Brick paved areas
• Curb lines on major roads, Highways Shoulder
• Sideways, paths, parking lots

When to be treated:

• Pre-emergent March 1st  – May 1^st
• Post emergent March 1^st – Oct 1^st
• Pre-dawn to dusk

Public Safety:

These EPA registered pesticides can be safely applied in residential areas. No special safety applied dedicated areas. No special safety precautions are necessary according to labels.
