Water Conservation
Illinois law requires water conservation measures to be in effect between May 15 and September 15 of each year. The use of sprinklers for watering of lawns or turf areas is prohibited between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. during this time. Shrubs, plants, trees and gardens may be watered at any time, but only by watering systems such as low volume drip, spray or bubble emitters, or handheld hoses. Lawn watering permits may be obtained at the Village Hall for watering newly sodded or seeded turf.
Contact the Department of Public Works at 708-206-3470 regarding any questions pertaining to water and sewer service.
Water Main Break
Water main breaks require the water to be shut off. Should a break occur at night, residents will not be awakened to be informed that their water is shut off. Please be aware that the Homewood Public Works Department must wait for utility locates before digging. This may cause a short delay in the repair process. After repair, the water may be slightly cloudy, but will clear after running for a short time.
