The Village of Homewood is proud to honor the men and women who have served our country through the Homewood Heroes Service Member & Veteran Banner Program. This annual program recognizes local veterans and active-duty service members with commemorative banners displayed throughout the community.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Homewood Heroes banner, the service member or veteran must meet one of the following criteria:

• Be a current resident of Homewood, or

• Have previously lived in Homewood and be sponsored by a current Homewood resident, or

• If deceased, have previously lived in Homewood

Each service member or veteran is limited to one banner per year.

Banner Details

• Cost: $45 per banner

• Size: 24" x 48"

• Material: Double-sided, heavy-duty vinyl

• Display Period:

  • Installed two weeks prior to Memorial Day

  • Displayed through two weeks after Veterans Day

• Return of Banners:

  • Banners will be returned to the purchaser and available for pickup three weeks after Veterans Day.

Important Guidelines

• Banner orders must be received by April 1, 2026
  Late applications will not be accepted.

• A maximum of 30 banners will be sold each year due to the number of poles Homewood has available. 

  • Once sold out, additional applicants will be placed on a waitlist and given priority for the following year’s program. 

• The name submitted must be the veteran’s legal name.

  • Nicknames cannot be used.

• Only photos taken in military uniform will be accepted.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all banners are sold out.

We encourage interested residents to apply early, as space is limited.
